This super tasty dish originates either in Greece or the Middle East - no-one is truly sure, but one thing we know it's seriously tasty and pimps up crudités like nothing else!
You'll always find a tasty option tucked in our deli counter, but making your own requires very few ingredients and can be whipped up in minutes..perfect for those unexpected guests.
Ingredients:
- 400g Can chickpeas (aka garbanzo beans)
- 3/4 tablespoons tahini (dark or light options available)
- Olive oil
With just these three you can whip up something perfectly acceptable. However by adding the following you can take the taste up a notch or seven..
- 2/3 cloves garlic (try our smoked for taste tweak)
- Lemon juice
- Cumin
- Salt
...Quantities on these can be added to taste.
Bung the lot into the blender, and whhhhiiiizzzzzz. Adding the olive oil until you get a consistency to your liking.
We've heard tips about peeling the chickpeas, allegedly it makes the taste creamier/less bitter but never tried it.
One great tip we have tried is switching the tahini for smooth peanut butter - something we always tucked in our cupboard.
